A very meaningful day

Ola! I walked my talk.

I mentioned in the previous entry that I thought of donating my quilt/comforter/blanket (whatever you call that) to the victims of the earthquake and Tsunami at Japan; and I did it - today!

I woke up extra early to load everything onto the car, and went for breakfast with mum. At about 9:30am, a friend's mum came over to join us to send the goods to a camp in KL.

Photo taken by Wei Lynn's mum.

When we arrived at the place, there were lots of polices and the road was partly blocked. I honestly thought it was done to make space for the camp to gather the donated goods until suddenly, a few policemen on motorcycles escorted a black, windows tinted car out and rushed past before my eyes. Then, did I just realise that all the hustle and bustle was made because our Prime Minister was there. Yes.

Suddenly again, another car (a far low-profiled one) passed by. The first thing I noticed was the Japanese national flag standing at the front part of the car and the odd number plate. For a second I glanced into the car and a man, who we assumed to be the ambassador of Japan in Malaysia, smiled and waved at the three of us. I guess it all happened too quickly and I was startled, I hurriedly did a 90-degree bow at the moving car. It's really funny to think of it now!

Then, we started to unload our car and carried the stuffs we brought to the camp. It was quite a distance away as there wasn't a closer place we could park our car.

By Wei Lynn's mum again, some of our love.
Not everything's there yet.

Let me count. We brought nine comforters/blankets, ten scarves, a winter coat, a box of Maggie Cup, a box of Campbell's soup and a box of bottles of mineral water. Only five comforters and the winter coat was ours though, the others are from my mum's friends.

Okay, now here's one thing. I carried four sets of comforters at a go. That wasn't very heavy so I felt nothing yet, about the huge group of Malay guys (no I'm not being racist, just describing) sitting under the shade, staring at us three ladies carrying so many stuff.

After that, I went back to our car and grabbed what was left - another comforter and the box of bottles of water. Well we know a box with bottles of water can be really heavy, I was carrying the box with the comforter sitting on top of it, slipping off with every step I made. The group of guys continued looking at me as I struggled - and even knelt to the ground while everything almost fell off my hands - to carry the heavy thing to the camp. I guess a slight helping hand was too much for them? =D

Anyway, just mentioning since it's part of my meaningful day.

Ate a lovely heart-shaped plum on a very lovely day. =)

While dropping off the stuff at the camp and registering everything, I felt really, completely, totally GLAD, thinking of the warmth I'm spreading. Ahaa! I know it wouldn't help much, but I put my heart in there; and I'm amazed by how devoted I am about this thing. First time ever in my life, I'd say.

That's about my experience on donating stuff to a disaster-hit country. Spreading warmth! I love how it feels to be helping the needy. =)

Oh-hoh-ho! I'm so proud'a myself! =D

God bless, everyone!
